ORIENTASI ISLAM RASIONAL DAN MISTISME : STUDI PEMIKIRAN HARUN NASUTION

This research examines Harun Nasution's thoughts on rational Islam and the concept of mysticism. In compiling this research, the researcher employed a library research method, collecting data from various literature relevant to the study, which was then compiled to produce conclusions. Based on the analysis of the research data, the researcher concluded that rational Islamic thought, as proposed by Harun Nasution, is a perspective on Islam that prioritizes reason or logic. The concept of rational Islam visibly contradicts the concept of mysticism, which prioritizes faith. However, Harun Nasution did not oppose the concept of mysticism. In fact, Harun Nasution also studied mysticism through the field of Sufism, known as philosophical Sufism. This means that, according to Harun Nasution, rational Islam and mysticism are two concepts understood from different perspectives.
